The Other Guys.
Jim Aust. Page 1.
Jim Aust stirred the guys up on the HAMB when he started posting these never before published pics. He's got lots more and is trying to get a deal to publish a book. The publishers are worried about the lack of big "names" and that the subject matter is too regional. Well I think they're pretty universal, Universally cool, that is.

1. This driveway engine swap shows friends getting together to put a fresh 3/8x3/8 flatty in the Merc wheeled ’32 5-W Coupe. (1951)
2. The cool ’32 Vicky belonged to a Hawaiian guy who carved some of the nicest Tiki Gods seen at many 1950’s L.A. eateries and Polynesian flavored establishments. (1958)
3. It doesn’t get much better than a cool chopped ’40 Merc, running Desoto bumpers and Caddy Sombreros flanked by a brand new ’49 Merc Coupe on one side and a ’32 Coupe on the other. (1949)
4. This super-sano ’32 Coupe belonged to the man responsible for all these great photos. A full story on this man and his great cars will be featured in The Rodder’s Journal #17. (1951)
5. Another of Joe Barnett’s great cars was this ’32 3-W that just screams early California rod. (1949)
6. Joe also had a chance to do a lot of early drag racing. Here he is at an illegal track running his mucho raked ’40 coupe. (1954)
7. Joe always has had a great sense of style, and here’s his ’41 Ford surfboard hauler. (1958)
8. A better picture of the Gene Winfield paint job. (1958)
9. Joe’s friend Mox Miller took his brand new ’58 Impala and gave it the custom treatment. (1958)
10. This photo really needs not story, it’s cool just on it’s own. (1951)
High school transportation for Joe was this channeled Deuce Roadster. (1948)
12. A few of Joe’s pals lined up their high school rods on their front yard for this shot. (1963)
