13. The only picture that’s not Joe’s is this picture of a ’38
Deluxe Convertible gunning past Inglewood High School. (1944)
14. This one is a little blurry, but that ’38 looks a lot like
the one above. (1949)
15. One of the kids in Joe’s Long Beach, CA neighbor hood had this
sweet sedan as a first car. (1962)
16. Joe began building a super nice ’27 T Touring for himself in
1953 with a body rescued from an old abandoned gold mine. Motor was a brand
new ’57 Corvette with dual quads. (1957)
17. Joe put much more time and effort into his T than the average
guy. His T would influence a whole group of young rodders. (1957)
18. As well as being a hard-core rodder, Joe was also a devoted
surfer. This photo shows his T and his self-decorated long board. (1959)
19. Joe shot this T while just driving by. (1957)
20. The frame horns tell you that it’s probably sitting on a Model
A frame. (1957)
21. A great profile that you just don’t see any more. (1957)
22. Joe’s friend Gene Winfield is shown here draggin’ it out in
his modified T Coupe. (1952)
23. This Roadster was caught on the bed of El Mirage. That looks
like it might be a Hemi poking through the hood. (1952)
24. This historic ’39 Coupe is perhaps more familiar in shiny Maroon
paint, with painted Caddy Sombreros. Early rodders weren’t afraid to use
their machines. (1952)
I sneaked this one in here after Jim had written the captions..
heh heh!.... Mart. (Bonneville 1953)
25. This is my own ’32 Cabriolet, a period correct 40’s rod with
a Thickstun fully dressed flathead. (1991)
---oooOOOooo---
Thanks for letting me showcase these excellent pics, Jim, and I
hope you can swing that deal.....Mart.
